ALBRECHTSEN joined Albion from FC Copenhagen in June 2004 for a then-club record £2.7million transfer fee, signing a three-year deal plus a year's option in the club's favour

After struggling to hold down a place at centre-half and left-back during his first few months as an Albion player, the jet-heeled defender was surprisingly slotted in at right-back by Bryan Robson and went on to play a vital part in the Baggies' Great Escape of 2004/05.

During 2005/06, he faced stiff competition for his position from new recruit Steve Watson but still went on to make 35 appearances, coming off the bench to score his first Baggies goal in a 1-0 win at Wigan in January 2006.

It was more of the same for Albrechtsen during 2006/07. He featured regularly during the first half of the season but had to play second fiddle from the turn of the year to Paul McShane.

After joining from local rivals AB, Albrechtsen spent two-and-half years at FC Copenhagen, where he helped the Danish giants win and retain the Danish Super League title in his final two seasons at the club, winning the domestic double in 2003/04.

Albrechtsen earned the last of his three full Denmark caps against Bosnia & Herzegovina in 2003 and played alongside another of Albion's recent Danish imports, Thomas Gaardsoe, at Under-21 level.

He has also appeared in several 'unofficial' international friendlies, including January 2004's 1-1 draw against USA.
