Carl Hoefkens
HAVE you got a head for figures?
Well, in our weekly feature for the 2007/08 season, we find out whether the Albion players and coaching staff have.
Every Tuesday, a member of the Baggies camp will randomly pick 15 questions to answer from a colourful selection of 40 puzzlers.
We will then put them under the spotlight.
Today, we quiz right-back Carl Hoefkens.
Q2: What is your favourite ice-cream?
CH: Vanilla. Just normal, standard vanilla. I don't like all the fancy ice-cream.
Q5: If you were Prime Minister, what one change to the country would you make?
CH: This is a difficult one. I definitely would reduce the taxes on everything - but that would just be for my own good! I'm sure everyone else would be happy though. It might make the country bankrupt, but that is what I would do!
Q7: What was the last album you downloaded to your Ipod?
CH: I think it was the last one by Eminem, which would have been ages ago. I haven't downloaded anything for a while because I had a few problems with my computer. Also, my Ipod is completely full and as the music is quite good, I probably won't download anything for a while.
Q9: Who would play you in the film of your life?
CH: I'd go for Hugh Jackman who was Wolverine in X-Men. When I had a beard a few weeks ago, everyone said I looked liked him!
Q15: What was your best and worst subject at school?
CH: My best was languages. It didn't really matter which one. My worst was maths. I hated maths. It was horrible.
Q19: What was the last film you saw at the cinema?
CH: Ratatouille with the little ones because, obviously, they wanted to see it. It was quite good. I've seen worse children's films when all you are thinking is 'when is this going to be over?!'
Q23: What keeps you awake at night?
CH: A bad smell! No, I'm quite a good sleeper and I'm not a person who worries too much. But sometimes, if something is on my mind, I might keep thinking about it. Probably the only thing that would keep me awake would be trouble with my family. But so far, touch wood, I haven't had much of that!
Q29: What is your favourite item of clothing?
CH: My absolute favourite is just jeans and a T-shirt because they're comfy. I'm not one for dressing up a lot for parties and things like that. Don't get me wrong, I do sometimes, but I prefer just being casual.

Q32: What is your greatest achievement in football?
CH: I've got a few things that I am proud of. In my second season at Germinal Beerschot, we won the cup in the final against Bruges, who were then champions of Belgium. Being in the national team at the age of 18, and also playing first-team football at the age of 17, wasn't too bad either.
Q35: Do you own any pets?
CH: In England, I have got a dog and a hamster. One for my little boy and a dog. It's a Staffordshire Bull Terrier called Angel, who is white and pink, so it's not like a proper Staffs.
Q36: What is your favourite goal you have scored?
CH: I scored a nice one last year for Stoke against Cardiff. It was quite an important one too. But probably my favourite was against Sporting Lisbon in the Champions League, when I was with Lierse, who are a small side in Belgium.
Q39: Have you any pre-match rituals?
CH: The only thing I do is take to the pitch with my right foot and come off it with my left. I don't know if that counts as a ritual, though. I'm not even sure why I do it!
Q40: If you were cooking to impress, what dish would you select?
CH: I wouldn't be able to cook to impress! If I am in a romantic mood, I would cook something simple. I'd go for something easy. It's quite difficult to say what though as I really don't like cooking. Actually, I hate it! I could cook some kind of meat, maybe steak, with some potatoes or even chips to make it even easier! I think that would be the best choice for me. It would be hard to fail!
Q13: Who was your first-ever 11-a-side football match for and in what position?
CH: It was with a tiny team in Embelm, Belgium. I think it is about ten leagues below Conference level. It might actually be the worst team in Belgium, if I'm honest! There are only about 2,500 people in the town. Anyway, I was only young, I can't remember my age, and I was a little striker. We barely had enough players to play and I had to play in the team two years above me. I think we lost something like 8-0, so I wasn't a very good striker!
Q30: When was the last time you used public transport?
CH: It was most likely when I was at college in Belgium. I caught the bus a lot then. That's not counting the Euro Tunnel, which I use a lot when I go home.
