Michael Nardiello
RIGHT ON TIME...Nardiello fired last-gasp winner to beat Rovers

ALBION Under-18s secured back-to-back wins as they beat high-flying Blackburn 2-1 on Saturday.

Triallist Jack Compton fired the Baggies ahead in the 20th minute in the FA Premier Academy League (Group C) clash before Rovers levelled 15 minutes from time.

But the hosts bounced back to grab the winner thanks to Michael Nardiello's last-minute strike.

"We had to be at our best because they are going well in the league," said Academy coach Michael Appleton.

"We started really well, kept a good shape and were really organised.

"We restricted them to long balls mainly.

"I'm getting players back from injury now but we had quite a few players who were ill on the day and I had to bring Ashley Holmes off because he was being sick.

"We also had a couple of penalty claims turned down and had a goal disallowed.

"They equalised and I just thought: 'Here we go again'.

"But the way the boys reacted was really positive.

"We created three or four more chances after that and scored the winner in the last minute."
