Boss: Scotland experience will help Mozza
TONY Mowbray believes becoming a regular member of the Scotland squad can only help James Morrison's career.
The Baggies midfielder will be hoping to win his first senior international cap in the friendly with the Czech Republic on Friday, May 30 (ko 5.30pm).
Morrison is part of a 23-man squad for the AXA Arena clash in Prague and he is also included in the 12-man party meeting up on Wednesday, May 21 and Thursday 22 for a training camp in Glasgow.
He was called up for the first time for August's friendly with South Africa by then-manager Alex McLeish.
However, after linking up with the squad, the Baggies' summer signing was forced to drop out due to injury and has not figured since.
And, although Morrison is still carrying a slight ankle problem picked up in the penultimate game of the season against Southampton, Mowbray insists it is nothing that will keep him out of action for the Tartan Army.
"It's good for James," said the Baggies boss.
"I had a few conversations with George Burley recently and I think it's good that James gets his Scotland career up and running.
"He has threatened to get started a couple of times now over the last year and injuries knocked him back.
"While he has still got a bit of an ankle problem it's important for him to get up and running in the Scotland setup.
"In an ideal world he would have a break but he is going to train for a couple of days at Hampden Park and then play in the game at the end of the month so he will just keep ticking over.
"It will do him no harm to be in the Scotland squad and hopefully he will be in it for a long time, which is good for him."
