Ladies beat Villa to book final place
ALBION ladies booked their place in the County Cup final for the second time in three years after thrashing a strong Villa side 6-1 yesterday.
It was sweet revenge for the Baggies, who were knocked out of the FA Cup by their Midlands rivals in December.
Hayley Phillipowsky smashed a hat-trick to add to Shamara Parkes' double and Louise Fellows' strike as Chris Holloway's side romped to victory over a team one division above them.
"We were determined to put things right after losing to Villa in the FA Cup and that gave us an extra edge," said the Albion boss.
"Everyone played their part and the final is something for us to really look forward to."
Albion will now face Blues in the final at the Ray Hall Country Ground, Great Barr, on Sunday, March 16 (ko TBC).
And the Baggies will be looking to go one better in what will be a repeat of the 2006 final, which they lost 6-1.
Academy men's Under-18s
David Worrall fired a last-gasp winner as Albion beat Stoke City 2-1 on their FA Premier Academy League travels on Saturday.
Steffan Morrison opened the scoring five minutes before the break to give the Baggies a half-time lead.
The Potters equalised ten minutes into the second half but Worrall scored his fourth goal in three games in the 85th minute to seal all three points for the visitors.
ALBION: Carlin, Pike, Mason, Labadie, Manchester, Holmes, Worrall, Samuels (Nicholls 75), Morrison (Nardiello 65), Lake-Gaskin, Knight. Subs not used: Lloyd-Weston (gk), Siaed.
