I WAS delighted to win a crucial penalty to help change the game in Tuesday's 3-1 win at Blackpool.

But there was no way I was even going to offer to take that one!

Throughout my career, I've taken a fair few penalties for Belgium and Stoke.

But I have always refused to take spot-kicks I have actually won for the team because I feel I would be jinxed.

Kev was really confident and it's great that he stuck it in and we added another two goals to come from behind and get a crucial three points.

We've now also scored more than 100 goals in a season again and I just hope we can continue that form in the last five games.

We've got a great shot of going up now and playing against teams like Portsmouth every week - not just in cup semi-finals.

Saturday was a great occasion though.

Wembley is an amazing stadium.

I've played in a lot of places, been to a lot of countries and seen massive and great stadiums.

But Wembley really is very, very nice.

It was an honour to play on that pitch.

It's a proper football stadium and the most well-known ground in the world.

Our fans made it a great atmosphere.

It felt amazing and I think everyone enjoyed it.

The result was a blow because we thought we did well.

We felt we showed we are ready to stand our ground if we do go up.

It's up to us to get there now and we've put ourselves in a really good position.

We went for it at Wembley and we couldn't do any more so we have to give credit to Portsmouth as well.

If you lose like that it's not nice but it's not the same as getting walloped.

It was a big blow but we picked ourselves up and did well to comeback from 1-0 down at Blackpool.

Blackpool had had ten days' rest and you could tell that by the way they went for it.

They made it hard for us to break them down and we couldn't play our football.

We needed something to go our way.

We couldn't do the running they do because we've had such a tough programme of fixtures - but we matched them.

It's a fair way to travel to Blackpool after a mental kick at Wembley, which makes it an even better win.

We've got a massive game against Watford on Saturday and another one at Wolves on Tuesday.

It's going to be a very, very important week and I hope I can speak to you in seven days' time and say that we did it.

We're only looking at ourselves.

We didn't think about the other teams' results before the game at Bloomfield Road.

The only thing we talked about was the chance to go top of the league.

All we can do now is keep going and focus on the next game.

I think Watford's 3-0 home defeat by Barnsley last night will make them even more dangerous opponents.

They are still one of the best teams away from home in this division.

They've got quality in their side to finish games off.

I'm sure Aidy Boothroyd will fire them up.

It will be a hard game.

We can't underestimate them just because they lost to Barnsley.

I'm sure they will put a lot of balls into our box and we have to deal with that and make sure we keep the ball.

We really have to stand up to them otherwise they will bully us.

Tuesday's game at Wolves is another massive fixture for both sides.

Not only do both teams really need the points in their promotion push, there is also a huge amount of local pride at stake.
