JONNO is renowned for his great sense of direction when it comes to picking out a pass.

But our skipper completely lost his bearings on Tuesday.

Jonno arranged to pick Kevin up for training and sensibly typed the address of the agreed collection point into his sat-nav.

I'm reliably informed Jonno set off for this 20-minute journey at 8am.

But after spending an unnaturally long time behind the wheel, there was still no sign of Kev.

It suddenly dawned on Jonno that instead of inputting 'Uttoxeter Road' into his sat-nav, he'd simply typed 'Uttoxeter' - and ended up a mile outside the latter!

He was so far out of his way he could have picked me up.

Under normal circumstances, Jonno and Kev would have been at the training ground just after 9am but ended up reporting well after 10am!

We've had some great banter about it in the dressing room.

There is only one person that could happen to - typical Jonathan Greening!

I was delighted to return to the first-team fold in last Friday's 1-1 draw at Charlton following a three-game injury absence.

Thankfully, my hamstring came through it no problem.

I've done a lot of strengthening work on it during the last couple of weeks and had good assistance from the medical staff.

I now feel very good going into the final eight league games of the season.

It might have been a bit of luck I got injured when I did.

Of course, you never want to miss any games.

But if I had to choose a time to get injured, it was maybe the best time as it was a few weeks before the end of the season and, now that I'm back, I can give it a proper last push for promotion.

I did have Richie, our physio, working over-time at The Valley though, after taking a couple of bangs to the head.

To be honest, there isn't much to bruise in there - and I don't think I could do much damage to my looks!

Joking aside, my ankle wasn't in the best shape afterwards but I've trained all week so I'll be ready for Saturday's game against Colchester.

I think we should have won at Charlton.

We conceded a bad goal but levelled through Kev and went on to play really well.

We went out with real purpose and showed how desperately we wanted to win the game.

Even though our opponents were not on the best of runs, they were still Charlton and possess loads of good qualities in their team.

The Valley is a hard place to go and they wanted to put things right against us.

We were really pleased with the way we performed.

Sadly, a winner just wouldn't come for us - but we'll take great confidence from that game.

The results the following day went well - but it is all about what we do.

The equation is simple: if we win our remaining games, we will be top.

Of course, it won't be as simple as that.

We have some hard games coming up.

It will be a real challenge for us - but it's one we're looking forward to.

With us still challenging for silverware on two fronts, we could have a really great season.

But we have to finish the job off - and finishing any race is always the hardest thing to do.

For the second home game running, we'll be entertaining a team that is battling against relegation.

We all know what happened against Leicester and we must try to avoid a repeat against Colchester.

The U's may be bottom, but it's important the players and fans alike don't 'expect' three points.

Games in this league simply don't work out like that.

On any given day, anyone can lose to anyone.

We've seen it time and time again across the division - and we know from first-hand experience.

If we go into each of our final eight league games with the right attitude, with the backing and patience of the fans, we'll have a great chance of achieving our goal.

You may have noticed I wasn't on duty for Belgium this week for our friendly against Morocco.

I had a nice long chat with the national coach about a week and a half ago when I was injured and said if it didn't cause him many problems, I would prefer to be overlooked for this game.

Owing to the fact we've played so many matches this season, and that I have not missed many international games over the last few seasons, he was okay with it.

In any case, it was the Olympic team - the one that will be travelling to the Olympic Games - that played for Belgium and that would have been a good experience for them.
