We're buzzing - BEATTIE'S BLOG
THERE'S a buzz among the lads after last night's 2-1 win at Plymouth.
We're stopping down in Devon for a couple of days before traveling across to London for Saturday's game with Crystal Palace.
It's great having a few days together with the boys.
Everyone gets on really well.
Apart from training, there's beeen a bit of PlayStation and Football Manager-action going on.
We'll also watch a few DVDs and there's plenty of banter flying about, particularly between the home-grown lads and the Eastern European mob.
Last night was our third straight win on the road and there won't be too many teams who will enjoy going to Plymouth this season.
We were disappointed they managed to scratch a goal out late on.
But we went to get three points - and that's what we got.
The boys played fantastically in the first half and we just saw it out after the break.
The big man, Roman, has had some injury problems since coming down from Scotland.
But he bagged a couple of good striker's goals on his first start and he's buzzing.
One of the things mentioned before last night's game was that all the other teams would be watching.
We definitely sent out a message - and that's what we intended to do.
We can now head to Selhurst Park in confident mood.
Palace have struggled this season but they've got a new manager in Neil Warnock who's capable of turning things round.
They'll be relishing playing us and doing their best to get a result - as will we.
The games are coming thick and fast and we're back at home to face Coventry on Tuesday.
Last time out at The Hawthorns was a great occasion and I was disappointed we didn't win against Wolves - like everyone else.
I've had a couple of minor set-backs over the last couple of months and it was nice to be involved again, especially in my first Black Country derby.
We kept a clean-sheet and their keeper made some great saves to deny us three points.
When I won the penalty, I thought we were going to get the win.
But even the best players in the world miss spot-kicks so there was no blame laid at Zolly's door.
I'm sure Tuesday's Midlands derby will be another fiery encounter.
We beat Coventry 4-0 less than three weeks ago and they'll definitely want to make amends for losing 4-0 on their own patch.
But we've got Palace first and we're taking one game at a time.
Everything is positive at the moment.
We just want to keep things going.
