THE games are coming thick and fast.

And, with five games in 14 days starting at Scunthorpe on Saturday, it's no wonder the gaffer is making good use of his squad.

All the boys appreciate it's a long, hard season and the manager has 25 or so players who are all good enough to do a job.

It can only be good for us that the gaffer has the luxury of resting players and no-one seems to be knocking the manager's door down at the minute.

The management team have put together a fine squad and hopefully we can pick up some points during this busy period.

I didn't get off the bench on Saturday but it was good to see the boys beat Ipswich 4-0.

They are a good footballing side and came back into it in the second-half.

It was a good victory and in the end we got our rewards with three late goals.

The gaffer made four changes against Bristol City last night and they gave us another good game of football down at their place.

They're flying high at the top of the league and it was a very tough, high-tempo match.

They're the only unbeaten team in the league still and I don't think there are many teams that will find it easy at Ashton Gate this season.

I was disappointed not to get on the scoresheet after starting the game but sometimes the chances just don't come your way.

I worked hard for the team and we were disappointed to concede an equaliser in the dying minutes but at least we opened our account on the road.

All the boys are chomping at the bit now to see who makes the team to take on Scunthorpe at Glanford Park at the weekend.

United have made a very good start after just being promoted and had another good result with a 2-1 win against Preston on Tuesday.

They're just two places behind us in seventh spot and on the same number of points.

So, they'll be flying high and I've got no doubts it will be another tough game.

Glanford Park is quite a tight ground, which holds less 10,000 fans and I'm sure it will be a hostile atmosphere.

But we're all professionals and we'll just get lost in the game.

I'm pretty used to tight grounds from my time up in Scotland where there are a couple of stadiums that aren't very nice places to go.

It's part and parcel of the game and you just get on with it.

No doubt me and my room-mate Jazzer [Jared Hodgkiss] will chew the fat about it over a cup of tea the night before the game.

It will be nice to be back at The Hawthorns on Tuesday for our third-round Carling Cup tie with Cardiff.

The Carling Cup is an important competition for us.

The manager has used the competition to give some of the fringe players an opportunity to play.

And we've done well so far.

It's important for every team to have a cup run but we're going to have to be at our best to get through against the Bluebirds.

Of course they could have two top class hitmen in attack with Robbie Fowler, who knows what it's like to win the League Cup with Liverpool, and Jimmy-Floyd Hasselbaink in their ranks.

We've definitely got to respect them.

They've been top players but we've got quality players at the back and hopefully we'll deal with them.

Talking of strikers, it will be great if Roman Bednar gets some action for the reserves against Stoke tonight.

He's had a frustrating time since pre-season.

He's picked up a couple of knocks and he'll be wanting to kick on now, get a bit of fitness and get some games under his belt.

I know he's starting on the bench but hopefully he'll get on against the Potters at some point.
