Visually Impaired team clinch title
ALBION'S 'A' team clinched the National British Blind Sport Visually Impaired League Division One title at the weekend.
The Baggies have made a rapid rise from winning promotion at the first attempt last season and comfortably bagged the four points they needed from their final four games in Saturday's Telford tournament to be crowned champions.
Albion won their first two games against the Royal National Blind College 'A' team and Inter Cosmos from Liverpool.
John McDougal and Nic Acton both got on the scoresheet as the Baggies took eight points from 12 to win the league by 14 points from runners-up Royal National College for the Blind 'A' team.
There was double joy for England international McDougall, who scooped the BBS Player-of-the-Year award.
Powerchair football
Albion's powerchair football team were also in action at the weekend and bagged the one point they needed in their remaining fixtures to guarantee fourth place and equal last year's achievement.
Albion assistant community director Jamie Bunch said: "Congratulations to all the players from the visually impaired and powerchair teams on their achievements this season.
"Special thanks must go to sponsors Egg and the government's Sportsmatch scheme for their backing."
